Over the next few weeks I am going to temporarily move away from the more usual “wargaming” posts, as we (Ruth and me) are heading off to India for three weeks – so apologies for boring you all with posts about our travels…it is a useful way of keeping the family updated as to where we are, and also to serve as storage for the photos we are taking as well!
Of course, the first task was actually getting there….so it is Planes, Trains and Automobiles for us….though not necessarily in that order!
We had heard that there was to be a lot of line works on the Saturday, so we decided to head down to London on the (cheap) late evening train (I recommend http://www.ba-rail.co.uk for tickets), a good choice as it happened, and the journey made much “quicker” as we chatted all the way down with a lovely Durham student (called Della), who had just graduated from the university with her masters in politics. She was of Ghana decent, and chatting about politics, India, Ghana, Africa and much more helped pass the time – start as you mean to go on!
A night in a Travelodge, followed by an underground trip to Heathrow…in typical fashion, we arrived at Heathrow hours before we were due to check in, so coffee comfy seats and books/internet are the way of the day!
As I type, we have about six hours ’til we board…so next stop, Delhi!
